I heart winter.

I saw this quote on another blog this morning:

February, when the days of winter seem endless and no amount of wistful recollecting can bring back any air of summer. (Shirley Jackson)

For me, it should read the opposite:

August, when the days of summer seem endless and no amount of wistful recollecting can bring back any air of winter.
(Janelle Clark)

Yes, I like winter, especially the watered-down quasi-winters we get here in southern Virginia. I'd actually like a little more snow, but otherwise winter here is a pretty good thing--plenty of sunshine, warm days interspersed with the cold--not too bad a deal.

Happy birthday to my friend Matthew, who is eleven years old today, with a terrific life all stretched out in front of him like a groundhog's shadow!

We should switch places because I'm so over winter. We had some 60 and 70 degree days this winter and no snow and I was happy as a clam-- but now, it's freezing cold, single digit wind chill, and a nice layer of frozen snow on everything and I'm done with it. Done! I'm tired of boots and mittens and coats. I'm tired of walking "very carefully" everywhere because I can't tell if the pavement is wet or icy. I'm tired of $100+ gas bills for heat. Blah blah blah blah. Let's change places. ;)

Well, you guys get much worse winters than we do here...I'd be sick of winter, too, I'm sure, if I was still in Columbus.

You will love it when you get down here for good! :-)

I'll be quoting you next summer. Love the switch-up. :)
